After imposing a strict lockdown earlier this year, Bulgaria is now reporting one of the highest covid-19 death rates in Europe. Bulgarian Health Minister Kostadin Angelov suggested on Monday that the country close most nonessential businesses and close schools and universities to in-person learning. The proposals will be debated by cabinet this week. The measures, however necessary to curb the spread of the disease, will surely compound the existing challenges faced by the Georgiev family.
